California to Institute LGBT History

California’s Board of Education unanimously approved changes to their curriculum to include prominent LGBT figures, and milestones in history classes.

The new subject matter includes studies on well-known gay politician Harvey Milk, and the Stonewall Riots.

The inclusion of LGBT figures and milestones is part of an ongoing national effort to diversify social studies and text books.

Andrew is a technology teacher at KIPP Indy College Prep. He is graduate of the University of Kentucky and a Teach for America Alum.
